VIDEO: DISTRICT ATTORNEY TOM WALSH HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCEWITH TOWN OF HAVERSTRAW POLICE DEPARTMENTAND ELECTED OFFICIALS TO ANNOUNCE GUN BUYBACK EVENT IN HAVERSTRAW

Today District Attorney Tom Walsh was joined by Town of Haverstraw Police Captain Ian Kaye, Rockland County Legislative Chairman Jay Hood, Jr., Town of Haverstraw Supervisor Howard Phillips, and Village of Haverstraw Mayor Michael Kohut to announce a community gun buyback event on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Village Hall located at 40 New Main Street, in Haverstraw, NY.  Eligible participants will receive up to $500 in pre-paid gift cards for those who surrender firearms.

District Attorney Walsh said: “As we begin National Gun Violence Awareness Month, we are proud to partner with the Town of Haverstraw Police Department for this gun buyback event.  I thank Police Chief John Gould, Chairman Hood, Supervisor Phillips, and Mayor Kohut for their support and collaboration with my office to reduce gun violence. These events are so essential and avert firearm related tragedies and prevent guns falling into the wrong hands.  I hope that on this Saturday, our citizens avail themselves of this program to remove guns from our community to keep Rockland County safe.”
